ABOUT US
Our story began many years ago when Walt Rubeck embarked on the adventure of mining Colorado Topaz at the original Topaz Mountain claim. A self-taught gemstone faceter, Walt devoted his life to the art of cutting gemstones, developing both exceptional skill and a deep respect for the material.
In 1990, Walt met Jack Woolsey, whom he would go on to mentor. Together, they mined and cut gemstones, and under Walt’s guidance Jack rose to become a master faceter of the highest level.
Though Walt is no longer with us, his legacy lives on through Jack’s decades of dedication to preserving and advancing Walt’s work—most notably through Walt Rubeck’s signature Lone Star Cut. Today, this knowledge, craftsmanship, and tradition are being passed forward once again through Josh Toms, who has been faceting gemstones for over 10 years and continues the lineage as an apprentice of Jack Woolsey.

Website, Social Media & Gemstone Faceting

Josh Toms and his wife Bella Toms manage Rocky Mountain Facet and its website. We are located in the Pikes Peak region of Colorado, where Josh was born and raised.
Josh has been faceting gemstones for over 10 years, working closely alongside Jack Woolsey and learning the craft through hands-on apprenticeship. Through this partnership, Josh continues to honor Walt Rubeck’s legacy by keeping the passion, precision, and artistry of fine gemstone cutting alive.
We have a deep love for gemstones in all their forms, and we take pride in sharing that passion with others. Each stone we cut is carefully documented, with detailed information provided so you can fully appreciate its unique character and craftsmanship.
